Portland Public Schools Budget Information
Portland Superintendent James Morse, Sr. will present his proposed FY2011 school budget on March 3, 2010. This will be the first time that the district uses a multi-year approach to budgeting. The district anticipates a loss of about $6 million in state and federal aid. Summary of FY2011 budget information The Portland School Committee voted on December 16, 2009 to approve $2.8 million in cuts to the current year's school budget due to an anticipated loss of state education aid. Voters approved a referendum on the fiscal year 2010 Portland Public Schools budget by 82 percent. The $91 million budget will reduce the property tax burden by slightly more than $1 million.
