I. Review current Superintendent
Evaluation policy
· Sarah
asked group to go over current PPS Evaluation Policy and get any suggested
mark-
ups to Sarah for discussion
at the next Personnel Sub Committee Meeting.
· Joline to get copy of the new Supt contract to Sub
Committee for review of language.
Contract ends December 31st
of each year by state law.
II. Review current Supt Evaluation process
· Will look at not only having School Committee evaluate the
Superintendent, but
Principals and Central
Office Administrators -360 review
· What are the key components we want in an evaluation of
the Supt.?
· What’s already there that we can use?
· Is a 360 valuable?
Jeanne: It
is valuable only if kept confidentially.
Try to look for patterns of behavior.
The conversation is
valuable. Along with the summary is a
conversation. Can
share PPS Evaluation process. Suggests to do a more informal evaluation
where the 3rd year will be the key year. Determine key components over a 3-year period.
Joline:
Forms to help maintain focus of discussion and ensure questions are
answered.
Kathleen Casasa:
Feedback forms are useful.
Sarah: At
advice of attorney, it is at the discretion of the school committee to
determine
when evaluations will take
place. Do not set am exact time of year
to be done
Peter: Share vision with
all staff.
· What is the intended outcome?
III. Review other samples of Supt Evaluations
· Peter: Level of
detail concern (Auburn). Georgia’s is
between Auburn and
Messalonskee. Likes separate summary along with
scoring.
IV. Review of upcoming Personnel Items
· Personnel Committee on upcoming workshop agenda on
evaluation process both Supt as
well as administrators and
teachers.
· Upcoming workshop on contracts (Exec Sessions Wed., March
11th at 8:00)
V. Misc./Questions
· Would like to have celebration of Jeanne’s work at the end
of the school year.
·
Also-
incoming Superintendent Jim Morse introduction to community celebration-
suggested to do something in
May. Any additional suggestions from
the group are
welcome. Please send these to Sarah as soon as
possible.
· Retirement Incentive needs to be discussed (add to
agenda-executive session).
· Upcoming discussion on compensation - NY company will do
market analysis on PPS
pay scale.
