Personnel Committee 7.24.08 meeting notes

In Attendance:

John Coyne, Rebecca Minnick, Robert O’Brien, Kate Snyder, Peter Eglinton, Joline Hart, Ann Chapman of Drummond & Woodsum and Sarah Thompson

Discussed with Ann Chapman of Drummond & Woodsum the “How to” structure supt. Search based on laws/statues

Reviewed state statues and laws related to Supt search

School Committee role by state law in supt search and what part community can or can’t take part in

All info is confidential ref applicants- all information

School Committee to be familiar with Policy AC- non discrimination policy, Policy GCFB- Recruiting and hiring of administrators

Joline will do a recap to the “screening committee” once chosen of confidentiality etc.. and they will sign confidentiality agreement

Sarah recapped for all in attendance meeting with MSMA and what they can offer for assistance and feedback they provided on process to date

Talked briefly on new timelines suggested by MSMA- discussion was had around this suggested time line- tabled to be discussed at Supt Workshop on August 6^th with whole SC

Sample supt evaluations, bills from prev searches, salaries of Supt in Maine and Nationwide, current ad rates- all coming from the MSMA in the next week

MSMA also sending quote of costs involved to be a part of the process with the SC

Joline will provide in the next week RFP process, Supt Job Evaluation current, Supt terms of employment current and leadership standards- Joline provided the Supt. Job description at this meeting- Sarah will forward out other items to full SC once received

Personnel committee to review Supt Job Description at upcoming meeting on July 31^st to then be forwarded on to the Policy Committee for review of suggested changes

Next meeting scheduled for July 31^st at 5:30 p.m. in Room 321
