feedback received at Orientation Panel Part II

panel members go back and change rating after group discussions.

how interview questions will be asked
- An
Interview Panel member suggested to have only five people ask questions.
- Find
out who is willing to ask questions – some members may not want to ask
questions.
- How
to handle follow up questions.
- Idea:
Have follow up questions written on paper and hand in to Sarah who will
decide which questions to ask.
- SC
to decide at SC meeting on Dec. 3rd format on how questions
will be asked-large group vs small group
- What
constitutes a “Conflict of Interest” in serving on interview panel
- Conflicts

- Sarah
consulted with legal counsel. Is
a conflict only if it would be of a financial gain or financial
issue. But suggests panel
members reveal any relationships with the applicants upfront.
- Suggested
to remind group that they cannot have any contact with applicants.
- Order
of happenings
- First
interview-School Committee decides who moves onto 2nd round of interviews.
- Notify
all five candidates that reference checks will be done as part of the
process.
- Site
visits after 2nd round.

- Amendment
to Superintendent job description including piece on diversity. Will bring up discussion at Dec. 3rd
meeting with SC.
- Will
need executive session to discuss any contract negotiations.
