The community is invited to add some tradition to their Turkey Day festivities by attending the 106th annual Portland-Deering football game on Thursday, Nov. 23, at Fitzpatrick Stadium. The annual matchup between the Bulldogs and the Rams dates back more than a century, but has a modern feature this year: a smart 49-inch LED TV will be raffled off at halftime!

The Turkey Day exhibition game between Portland High School and Deering High School originated back in 1911. It remains the only Thanksgiving Day high school football game in Maine. Portland Public Schools alumni in particular are invited to attend and work up an appetite for their turkey by cheering on their teams and reconnecting with former classmates in the stands.

Kickoff will be at 10 a.m. Gates open at 9 a.m. Tickets are on sale now at Portland High School and also will be available at the game. The cost is $5 for adults and $2 for children. The concession stands also will be open during the game.

This year, a 49-inch smart LED TV will be raffled off at halftime. Raffle tickets are being sold at the front office of Portland High School and at the game.

PHS Football Hall of Fame recognitions will take place at halftime.
