Make It Happen! is a program that pairs English Language Learners in grades 8-12 with volunteer academic coaches to provide personalized, structured academic and social support. Coaches work with students from countries all over the globe, including Afghanistan, Cambodia, China, Democratic Republic of Congo, El Salvador, Mexico, Serbia, Somalia, Sudan, and Vietnam.

Be a part of Make It Happen!
We are looking for volunteer academic coaches who have a genuine desire to be part of young peoples' lives. Join us to empower youth by helping them pursue their interests, succeed in school, and set and achieve their goals!

Time commitment:
Coaches agree to meet with a student for a minimum of 1 hour per week for the academic school year (September to June). Meetings take place during the school day (8:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.) or after school (2:15 - 4:00 p.m.)

Students work with coaches who provide extended learning time through:
• homework support
• reading and writing enrichment
• activities that promote critical thinking, goal-setting, and organizational skills

Volunteers are required to pass a background check before interacting with youth. Multilingual staff members provide volunteer orientation and training on an ongoing basis. If you are interested in volunteering for this exciting program, call 874-8135 or email Rachel for more information.
