Be part of an exciting program for English Language Learners in grades 6-12 in Portland Public Schools as an academic coach! Coaches are responsible, positive, adult role-models who provide both academic and social support to promote academic success and college readiness.

Data Collection and Analysis
Do you love working with numbers and seeing where patterns and where disconnect exist? Consider working with the staff here at the Center to determine how well we are serving the needs of our English Language Learners. Examples of data collection include tracking ELL classes and curriculum; disciplinary actions and intervention; and extracurricular activity participation. Ultimately, we will use this data to better serve our multilingual and multicultural population!
Rock Around the World
Are you someone who would love to help plan an event that involves the song, dance and food of Portland’s multilingual and multicultural community? Then we need you! Rock Around the World, the Center’s annual fundraiser, proves each year to be an evening filled with energy and excitement, and we are always looking for help in pooling the communities resources to make this event one to remember. Soliciting items for a silent auction, finding food donations, and selling entrance tickets are just a few of the many ways to volunteer to make this event a success!
Lunch & Learn
Did you grow up as an English Language Learner, either in Maine or elsewhere? Do you feel that you've gained valuable educational and life experiences since middle and high school that you'd like to impart to a young person? If so, come join us to share your insights on how to succeed academically and professionally with English Language Learners during school lunch!
Office Help
We need occasional assistance making copies, preparing mass mailings, answering phones and organizing our new office and libraries at Lyman Moore Middle School. Our Center's mission is to ensure equal access to educational opportunities for students whose home language is not English.... If you can help us work towards this goal by helping us stay organized, we'd love your help!
