What is a Schoolwide Plan?

A Schoolwide program is a comprehensive school reform model that is designed to generate high levels of academic achievement in core academic area for all students, especially those who are not demonstrating proficiency in meeting the State's academic content and achievement standards. It differs from a Targeted Assistance program (current Title 1 program) in the following ways:

*No student selection criteria is needed; all students participate. Currently staff select students who are failing or at risk of failing to score "proficient" on the Maine Learning Results.

*There are no restrictions on who may deliver services; all staff work towards achieving the goals of the plan. Currently only Title 1 funded staff may work with the identified students.

*This is a whole-school reform model, rather than one of many programs that exist in the school.
