Title: Use of Private Vehicles for School Business

USE OF PRIVATE VEHICLES FOR SCHOOL BUSINESS
The Portland Board of Education (“Board”) recognizes the need for school employees/ volunteers (including parents) to use their private vehicles for school business on a regular or occasional basis. This need is often greater at times when the Portland region is experiencing personnel or equipment shortages.
The Board also recognizes that the district is responsible for safeguarding the safety of students, employees/volunteers when private vehicles are used for school business and that use of private vehicles for school business should only occur with the consent of the student and/or parent/legal guardian.
The Superintendent is responsible for the development and implementation of appropriate administrative procedures to accomplish this goal.
