SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS
All per diem substitute teachers must have two years of college.
Substitute teachers shall be paid an amount per day as set by the School Committee.
A certification waiver must be obtained in the case of a long-term substitute teacher (hired to fill the position of an employee absent on an extended leave of 60 days or more). Such long-term substitutes will be paid at Step 1 on the Bachelor’s Scale.
In accordance with USM College of Educational policy, student teachers/interns may serve up to four full days as unpaid substitutes for their supervising teachers for professional days (two days each for two supervising teachers). The student teachers/interns must complete the appropriate Personnel Office application to establish substitute status.
