Behavioral Health Continuum
What is the behavioral health continuum? Tiered systems of support and interventions, focusing on positive and restorative approaches that are both trauma-sensitive and culturally and linguistically relevant.
Multi-Tiered Systems of Behavioral Support
We do a number of things to support all students (Tier I), provide targeted/small group interventions for students who need something more or different (Tier II), and intensive/individual interventions for students who need greater levels of support (Tier III). For more information on tiered systems of support:
These tiers focus on:
- Preventative and restorative practices that are provide abundant social emotional learning (SEL) opportunities
- Trauma-sensitive and…
- Culturally and linguistically relevant (See PPS Multilingual & Multicultural Center)…
- Designed to support the needs of ALL students, and...
- Built on the foundation of positive relationships.
In support of this work, Portland Schools has adopted a Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework.
