Beginning with the August 7th Board packet, Portland Public Schools will be implementing the use of a school board packet program called BoardDocs. To access any minutes and agendas, select “Meetings” from the link at the top right of the screen and all meeting agendas will be displayed. Highlight the agenda you wish to view, then you can choose to “View the Agenda,” “Print the Agenda,” “Edit (view) the Minutes” associated with that agenda or “Edit (view) Video” associated with those minutes. The “Featured” meeting will be the upcoming meeting.

The Portland Public Schools is led by a school board of nine members, all elected by popular vote.
The School Board meets regularly on the first and third Tuesday of each month. Note – we do not convene in the month of July.
The board may schedule special sessions as needed throughout the year. All board meetings are open to the public.
Recordings of Board Meetings from November 15, 2016, can be found on our YouTube Channel by clicking the YouTube icon above or clicking on the following link:  https://www.youtube.com/user/portlandschools

Our Job
The Portland Board of Public Education is responsible for providing educational program for all of the students within our system. We do this primarily by establishing the policies that direct instructional and support programs within the system, and by employing a Superintendent to whom we give the authority and responsibility to supervise the effective implementation of those policies. It is not our duty to operate the schools, but to see that they are well operated.
Members of the board have authority only when acting as a school board legally in session. We cannot be bound in any way by an action or statement of one of our members acting alone, unless we have specifically instructed the person to act on our behalf.

To send an email to all members of the school board, use this email address:
