Apply to Join Equity Commitee

The Portland Public Schools is convening an Equity Advisory Committee for 2026–2027, chaired by Board of Public Education member Micky Bondo. Staff, families, students and community members are invited to apply by the deadline of Sept. 29. The Committee advises the Board and Superintendent on the district's equity priorities — it informs rather than sets policy.

The Committee's work this year will move through two phases:

●      Phase 1: members will review the Staff Voice & Experience Survey through an equity lens — examining how equity and belonging show up across staff groups and advise on what the findings mean for programming.

●      Phase 2: members will serve as a source of community and staff perspective for the equity audit, and help translate audit findings into actionable next steps and programming recommendations for leaders and staff.

We are seeking roughly 10–14 members: PPS staff from classrooms and beyond, a building leader, central-office staff and parents/caregivers, community partners and student representatives. We will review, select, and notify members before the first meeting.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

●      Breadth of school communities represented

●      Breadth of role and relationship to the district

●      Lived and professional experience with equity and belonging

●      Demonstrated cultural humility; centering of those most impacted

●      Staff: experience with student data or survey analysis a plus

●      Community members: connections to community organizations a plus

Please complete this form to apply by Tuesday, Sept. 29.
