As you may have heard, there was an active shooter threat at Portland High School the morning of Tuesday, Nov. 15, that turned out to be a hoax. Shortly after that situation was cleared, we received another threat that morning at Casco Bay High School. Working with police, this threat was determined to be a copycat hoax event. However, in an abundance of caution, Casco Bay High School implemented precautionary measures with students and staff while police maintained a presence in the vicinity. Students were dismissed at the normal time.
The Portland Public Schools wishes to express our gratitude to the Portland Police Department for its quick and thorough response in both situations. Thank you also to staff and students for following protocols during these traumatic events. Police are urging anyone who has any information that might assist in these or any other cases to call them at (207) 874-8575.
