FY27 Budget Presentation March 10

On Tuesday, March 10, Superintendent Ryan Scallon will present his proposed budget for the 2026-2027 school year to the Portland Board of Public Education.

The presentation of the fiscal year 2027 (FY27) budget will take place at the Board’s business meeting beginning at 6 p.m. at Casco Bay High School. The public can attend in person at the school or via Zoom at this LINK. Board meetings also stream live on the district’s Facebook page. View the agenda.

If you are interested in reviewing the budget materials before the meeting, they are available online. Here is the FY27 Budget Book and the slide presentation for the meeting. The superintendent’s letter to the Board in the budget book provides a high-level overview of the budget.

The budget process will include multiple opportunities for public comment and feedback before it goes to city voters on June 9. View the FY27 Budget timeline. View the Board calendar.

The Portland Public Schools is Maine’s largest school district, with more than 6,200 students, and it’s also the most diverse. About one-third of the district’s students come from homes where languages other than English are spoken—a total of 61 languages. Approximately 49 percent of the district’s students are white and 51 percent are students of color. More than half of all PPS students are economically disadvantaged.
