The Casco Bay High School Mock Trial Team is very grateful to a Portland law firm for its generous support as the team heads to a national competition in May.

“Thank you to Murray Plumb & Murray for sponsoring the Casco Bay High School Mock Trial team at the superior solicitors level,” said Jake McNally, Casco Bay math teacher and Mock Trial coach. “Their generous contribution will help fund eight competitors to compete in the National High School Mock Trial Championship in Phoenix, Arizona from May 7 -11.”

The CBHS Mock Trial team made it to the championships of the Maine State Mock Trial competition in late 2024 and earned an invitation to the 2025 National High School Mock Trial Championship in Arizona in May. The team is fundraising to help defray expenses as they prepare to compete against state champion teams from other states.

McNally said Murray Plumb & Murray partners and lawyer coaches, Richard O’Meara and Maria Fox, have also dedicated countless hours to guide the team to the state championship trial in the fall and to prepare them for their run at nationals.

The goal of the Mock Trial program is promoting an understanding and appreciation of the American judicial system through academic competitions and other activities. Casco Bay has been participating in Mock Trial for 10 years and this is believed to be the first time that a PPS high school team is going to the nationals. Learn more about the CBHS Mock Trial Team and its path to the nationals.
