There are many ways to volunteer in The Portland Public Schools. Volunteers are always needed for classroom assistance, after-school tutoring, and chaperoning field trips. In addition, there are a wide variety of other volunteer opportunities. Check out the following examples and volunteer to make a difference in the lives of our students:
● Chaperone an after-school trip to mountain bike, hike, ice skate or snowshoe
● Support a Crafting Club with making candles, felting projects, reed baskets, paper crafts, and sewing projects
● Volunteer as a voice, piano, guitar, bass, or drum coach
● Work with the Drama Club as a musician, lighting designer, choreographer, or set builder
● Assist a school sports coach
● Host a job shadow or an intern
● Run concessions at school events
● Join Rock Climbing Club outings to EVO Rock and Fitness
● Host a trivia event for the Trivia Team
● Teach students gardening skills in the school garden
● Help advise the Muslim Student Association
● Judge a Debate Club tournament
● Become an academic coach and help tutor students in academic subjects
● Coach students through the college selection and application process
● Build a little library for the school to fill
