The Portland Board of Public Education's April 1 meeting included a first reading and public hearing on the FY26 school budget that the Board’s Finance Committee voted to recommend on March 24. That budget is approximately $40,800 less than the budget the superintendent recommended March 4. The reduction involves non-personnel items for which the Foundation for Portland Public Schools plans to raise funds. If you missed the April 1 meeting, watch on YouTube:https://youtu.be/I0zySzCy7fQ
The Board will hold a second reading and public hearing on the recommended budget on April 8, and then vote to recommend a budget to the City Council. See the FY26 budget page and budget timeline: https://www.portlandschools.org/department/finance/fy-2026-budget
