On June 12-13, 2023, Kai will be a part of the student delegation representing the state of Maine at the 2023 National History Day Competition, which will be held at the University of Maryland, College Park.  The theme this year is Frontiers in History: People, Places and Ideas.  Kai will be competing in the performance category, The impact of Jazz on Civil Rights during the Harlem Renaissance and Beyond.  Starting with the 10th Grade History Day Fair that was held at Portland High School on February 15, 2023, Kai went on to compete and advance at the Southern Regional Level, in Lewiston, Maine, and most recently the Maine State Competition, held at the University of Maine Orono.
