Deering High School's Winter Concert on December 14!

Deering High School invites you to a captivating Winter Concert on Dec. 14!. Led by Music Director Julianne Eberl, the PPS High School Orchestra will showcase a diverse repertoire featuring the talents of District 2 and All-State festival participants. From the lively "Reggae Jingle Bells" to the classical allure of Beethoven's "Allegretto from Symphony No. 7," the orchestra's performance reflects the school's dedication to cultivating musical excellence.

Following this orchestral enchantment, the Deering Handbell Ensemble, featuring students from the block 2 Chorus Class, will contribute to the festive atmosphere with renditions of timeless classics like "Jingle Bells" and Beethoven's "Ode to Joy." Under the direction of Abby Hutchins, the Deering High School Chorus will take the stage, offering a multicultural selection of songs, including traditional Congolese, Nigerian, and Spanish carols, as well as a soulful rendition of "Stand By Me" featuring an original interlude on vocals

Concluding the concert with a grand finale will be the Deering Jazz Band, directed by Abby Hutchins. Their eclectic setlist, featuring classics like "Green Onions" and Leroy Anderson's "Sleigh Ride," will showcase the remarkable talents of the student musicians. Vocal soloist Natalia Mbadu's performance of "My Funny Valentine" promises to captivate the audience. Deering High School extends a warm invitation to all, expressing gratitude to everyone involved for making this musical celebration possible and for keeping the spirit of music education alive in public schools. Happy Holidays!
