Reasons to have your students take the challenge:
Engaging Curriculum: Your students will complete our renewable energy and floating offshore wind curriculum in the classroom, preparing them for the challenge.
Hands-On Experience: Students will design and build their own floating wind turbine platforms, testing their creations at the state-of-the-art Alfond W2 Wind-Wave tank at the Advanced Structures & Composites Center (ASCC).
Real-World Skills: Participants develop engineering, teamwork, and problem-solving skills—key tools for Maine’s future innovators.
STEM Carnival: High school teams compete for internship opportunities at the ASCC, valued at over $60,000, while middle school teams gain recognition and an inspiring introduction to STEM.
