The Portland Public Schools  is hiring dedicated substitute teachers for our specialized programs! There are six positions available. Please activate your networks and share widely!

Dedicated substitutes provide coverage in specialized programs, serving students with significant needs related to intellectual disabilities, autism, and social-emotional challenges. Responsibilities include supporting the daily functions of the classroom and working with students individually or in small groups. We are seeking individuals who are passionate about helping every student reach his or her full potential. We welcome both applicants who have previously worked in these types of programs, as well as those who are newer to the field and looking to gain more experience.

Daily rate is $175 for a full day, working 5 days per week, 1 paid sick day per month is accrued and retained until needed, $500 bonus per month intended to help with individual healthcare costs.

Requirements: Maine state fingerprint (CHRC) authorization 

Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with students in similar programs, College degree (Associate or Bachelor’s), Maine DOE ed tech or teacher certification.
