Thanks to a new Maine law, school meals are free for all Maine students, but it’s still very important to fill out a free-or-reduced school-meal application. Completing the applications provides the Portland Public Schools with family income data that helps the district receive the federal and state funding we need.

Also, eligible students can receive extra money for groceries when they miss school due to Covid through Pandemic EBT or P-EBT. In order to receive these important grocery benefits, families should fill out their school meal benefit form today!

Benefits for eligible school-age children and children under age 6 for school year 2021 and 2022 were issued during the last week of August and first week of September.
