‘Care Local’ Message from MaineShare to PPS Community

MaineShare, a federation of approximately 40 Maine organizations working to make the state a more equitable and just place through good health, environmental protection, human rights, and safe homes and communities, has a message for the Portland Public Schools community:

“The Portland Public Schools community is invited to Care Local with MaineShare! At MaineShare, we believe that Maine isn’t just a place to live and work. It’s a place to become invested in. Over the last year, our nearly 40 member groups have worked tirelessly to make sustainable change for better, more just communities. Examples of the work our members have done include: advocating for paid family leave; supporting farmers impacted by PFAS contamination; speaking out in support of reproductive rights; providing linguistically appropriate vaccine information for new Mainer communities– and so much more. But the only way we can mobilize resources for our member groups doing this amazing work is with supporters like YOU!

This year, although there is not an option for payroll deductions from PPS employees to MaineShare, you can still make a one-time or recurring donation to support us.  To do so, please visit this link. To learn more about the member groups that MaineShare raises funds for, please click here. And if you have any questions about supporting MaineShare, please contact Amanda Langley at amanda@maineinitiatives.org!”
