Portland High School’s top-scoring mathletes competed in the 44th Maine State Math Meet in Augusta last week. The Augusta Civic Center was able to host the event in-person for the first time since 2019, allowing 880 high school students from across the state to come together and exercise their shared love of math. PHS students excelled at the meet, placing 9th out of 25 in the Large School Division and 19th out of the 88 schools that competed. PHS Math Team Coach Ileen DaPonte said, “Our students had an awesome day. They had fun and worked wonderfully together. Their proctor made it a point to tell me what a great group of kids they are.”
