Portrait of a Graduate

Dear Portland Public Schools Community,

We are excited to invite you to a focus group for our “Portrait of a Graduate” vision on Monday, May 8, at King Middle School from 6 pm-8 pm. A Portrait of a Graduate is a shared vision of the knowledge, skills, and character traits that our students should possess upon graduation. It states what students should be able to do and what qualities they should have in order to succeed in college, career, and life. The Portrait of a Graduate vision guides curriculum and instruction, assessments, professional development for educators, and decision-making processes in the district to ensure that all students are prepared for the challenges and opportunities that await them after high school.

This is an opportunity for parents and other stakeholder groups who have not yet had the chance to give feedback to provide their input. We welcome all parents and other community members such as employers, community partners, alumni, school board members, post-secondary institutions, and faith-based groups. Your participation is incredibly important to us and is paramount to the success of this endeavor.  If you plan to attend, please fill out this form. You may also share your input by completing this survey.

Your input will help shape the direction of this important work, and we look forward to hearing from you. Thank you for your continued support of and commitment to the Portland Public Schools. If you have any questions, please reach out to Pamela Otunnu, PPS Director of Secondary Academic Access and Outcomes, at otunnp@portlandschools.org.
