The Portland Public Schools is committed to ensuring that all students have a safe, equitable environment in which to learn. Over the last few years, the district has given particular attention to implementing policies and practices for addressing discrimination, harassment, and sexual harassment, and this work involves important collaboration with many community partners. One of our partners, SafeBAE, has arranged an upcoming panel to share more about these collective efforts.
On Wednesday, May 3, at 6:30pm, the district's Student Equity Officer, Tyler Schwaller, will facilitate a virtual panel for parents, caregivers, and community members to learn specifically about shared commitments to preventing and responding equitably to sexual violence. The focus will be on the work that community partner organizations have been doing across the district around sexual violence prevention.
This will be a good opportunity for community members to learn about resources for supporting young people to develop healthy relationships and to advocate for their safety and well-being.
The panel will take place via Zoom. Register to receive event details, including the meeting link. Contact Tyler Schwaller, PPS Student Equity Officer, with any questions at firstname.lastname@example.org. (Please note that this event is hosted by SafeBAE, not PPS's Parent University. Related PPS resources are accessible via the district's website.)
