Julia Marquardt-Luesma, a Casco Bay High School student who is in the Commercial Art Program at the Portland Arts and Technology High School (PATHS), recently won the Gold Medal in the State Pin Design Competition at the 2024 Maine SkillsUSA Leadership and Skills Conference. Julia is a testament to the talent and creativity nurtured at PATHS and supported by SkillsUSA. SkillsUSA is a national organization serving teachers and high school and college students who are preparing for careers in technical, skilled and service occupations, including health occupations and for further education. The pin, featuring a lobster and buoy, will be proudly worn by the Maine student delegation at the upcoming SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference in Atlanta June 23-27 – and is expected to be highly coveted among the 6,000 students in attendance.
