The Foundation for Portland Public Schools (FPPS) has completed its tenth annual Teacher Grants Program cycle. Fifty-four grant proposals have been awarded totaling just over $35,000.

Through the FPPS Teacher Grants Program, Portland teachers are supported in their efforts to enrich education, innovate in the classroom, and engage the community. FPPS teacher grants recognize and support teachers’ work to inspire students and improve learning outcomes. This year’s funded projects represent a broad range of learning opportunities in all subjects and at all grade levels. They include experiences like micro farming, mindfulness, and raising brook trout.

“I fully support the work that FPPS does to support our schools,” said Portland Public Schools Superintendent Xavier Botana. “The Teacher Grants Program is just one way FPPS helps to fulfill the Portland Public Schools Promise. Their investment in teachers and students is critical. The interest in these grants shown by our teachers demonstrates how committed they are to creating innovative and engaging experiences for their students.”

“This is a great example of how committed the Portland community is to its public schools,” said Sarah Moran, Chair of the FPPS Teacher Grants Committee. “We’re really proud to support the energy and innovation of these teachers. Investment in these projects is investment in our future.”

Information on the grant awards for this year and previous years are listed on the FPPS website at: https://www.foundationforpps.org/programs/pef-teacher-grants-program/
