Musical performances by a Casco Bay High School sophomore and two Reiche Community School fifth-graders helped make the historic Jan. 2 inauguration of Maine’s first woman governor even more special.
CBHS student Alain Igiraneza gave a gorgeous rendition of the national anthem during the inauguration ceremony for Gov. Janet Mills at the Augusta Civic Center.
Also, a performance of Alicia Keys’ “Girl on Fire,” sung by Reiche students Shy Paca, 11, and Natalia Mbadu, 10, brought the audience to its feet. Natalia and Shy also got a big hug from the governor.
The Portland Public Schools is very proud of all these students!
