PPS, Restaurants, Food Fund Help Feed Kids

This is the image for the news article titled PPS, Restaurants, Food Fund Help Feed KidsThe families of many Portland Public Schools students are food insecure, and those students depend on daily school meals to get enough to eat. During the two-week school closure starting March 16, the district is moving as quickly as possible to provide meals to students at distribution sites, but that won’t start until Wednesday, March 18.

In the meantime, PPS partner Full Plates Full Potential (fullplates.org) is coordinating a rapid response through their network of restaurant professionals in greater Portland. The FEED KIDS Maine team is rallying to provide meals to students on Tuesday, March 17, which will be distributed at meal sites in Portland

PPS is deeply grateful  to Full Plates Full Potential and participating restaurants/chefs – Little Giant, Tipo, Central Provisions, LB Kitchen, Mr. Tuna, Chef Josh Berry, Piccolo and Chaval – for their generosity.

Our food insecure PPS families also can’t afford to stock up on food during this pandemic the way other more-advantaged families can. Donating to the PPS Food Fund can help get these families through this crisis. Click HERE to donate.

The PPS Food Fund is a collaboration by the Foundation for PPS and Food Fuels Learning (FFL) to help ensure food security for PPS students and is made possible through generous donations by the community.
