Four Portland High School students and a Lyman Moore Middle School student have won recognition for their artwork in the Scholastics Art Award Regional Competition. Sponsored by the Maine College of Art (MECA), the Scholastics Art Awards is a prestigious recognition program for creative students. Here’s information on these outstanding young artists and links to view their artwork, which will be on display at MECA throughout the year:

Portland High School

      Teagan Moon, senior, AP Artist ~ Gold Key Recipient, for her Comic Art Submission, “Floating Head.” View HERE.  

      Madison “Maddie” Hurley, senior, AP Artist ~ Silver Key Recipient, for her Drawing & Illustration Submission, "Coty and Winnie." View HERE.  

      Amelia Jerlach, sophomore, Art 2 Artist ~ Silver Key Recipient, for her Drawing & Illustration Submission, "Pepper the Pug." View HERE

      Charles Spencer, sophomore, Art 2 Artist ~ Honorable Mention Recipient, for his Photography Submission, "The Mountains." View HERE.

Lyman Moore Middle School

      Lucas Perez, grade 8 student ~ Gold Key Recipient for his Painting Submission, “The Stranger” and recipient of two Honorable Mentions. View Gold Key awards HERE.
