Portland Public Schools has transitioned to a new electronic application process.  Click on the link below for the position that you wish to apply for.  Once you have created your AppliTrack profile, review it carefully to be sure that the prior work experience you have entered into AppliTrack includes all relevant work experience and that you have uploaded your transcripts and your certification/authorization, if required.  Applications that do not have all required documentation attached will be deemed incomplete and will not be included for consideration in the applicant pool.

FINGERPRINTING:  Every school district employee is required by law to be fingerprinted through a process approved by the Maine Department of Education.  If you are hired, you must be fingerprinted prior to your first day of work.  You will need to pay $55 to the fingerprinting vendor and $15 to the Maine DOE.  Fingerprinting forms and instructions are in the left sidebar.  For additional information, call the Maine DOE at 207-624-6603 or visit their website at www.maine.gov/doe/cert/fingerprinting.

EDUCATORS To be considered for employment as an educator with Portland Public Schools, you will need a Maine state certification or an eligibility checklist from the Maine Department of Education.  Even if you currently hold a certification in another state, we will still require you to obtain your Maine certification prior to being hired.  For assistance, call the Maine DOE at 207-624-6603 or visit their website at www.maine.gov/doe/cert.

PLEASE NOTE:  When you apply for your certification by mail, it will take approximately 8 to 10 weeks for processing, and this time frame should be considered when applying for any of our available positions.

Stipend Positions (6):  Science Cluster Leader/Designee (CBHS, DHS, PHS, KMS, LMS, MMS)

 

Stipend Description: 

  • Act as a point person/liaison for communication between the CHO and the Science teaching staff with regard to implementation and maintenance of the CHP

  • Keep the CHO apprised of any needs or concerns with regard to proper storage, handling, and disposal of chemicals/chemical waste

  • Be familiar and assist in maintaining compliance with the CHP

  • Ensure that the chemical inventory and proper SDSs are maintained for their school

  • Ensure that all chemicals received are dated and shelf life is monitored on a quarterly basis, at a minimum

  • Review and test peroxidizable compounds on a quarterly basis

  • Ensure that emergency showers and eyewashes are activated weekly and that documentation of the activation is maintained

  • Ensure that the chemical storage area at their school level is maintained with regard to general hygiene, proper storage, and proper labeling

  •

HIGH SCHOOL COACHING POSITIONS

If hired, must have criminal history records check through the Maine Dept. of Education, which cost $70.
