
A detective from the Portland Police Department will give a presentation to parents on Wednesday, Feb. 25, on how to help children use the Internet safely.
The presentation will be held in the King Middle School cafetorium and run from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Detective Eli Chase, of the Portland Police Department, Criminal Investigations Unit, will provide information on how to help children use technology safely and to make good decisions while online.
Detective Chase will discuss the following:
*The difference between the Internet and a website
*Good sites, reckless sites, dangerous sites
*Social networking sites defined and the risks of signing up
*Ownership of material posted to the Internet
*Online security (identity theft, scams, true risks and laws)
The presentation will be geared toward parents of middle-schoolers, but all parents are welcome.
The event is being hosted by the Reiche Community School PTO.
