On March 2 and 3, Portland Arts & Technology High School (PATHS) students in the Fashion Marketing program won big at the Maine State DECA Conference. Now, the students are holding a spaghetti dinner fundraiser Monday, March 20, at Hella Good Tacos, to raise money for them to attend the DECA nationals in California.

“[At the state conference], the students competed with marketing projects they had prepared and we had great results,” said Jane Krasnow, PATHS Fashion Marketing instructor. “We had six 1st-place winners in the state, and one 2nd-place and two 3rd-places.”

DECA is a nonprofit, international association of high school and college students and teachers of marketing, management and entrepreneurship in business, finance, hospitality, and marketing sales and service. The organization prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers and education in marketing, finance, hospitality and management.

Krasnow added that she is very proud of the DECA student team, who competed with Maine students statewide. “Not only were their results stellar, but their maturity and team spirit were impressive,” she said. “I watched my group really bond and learn so much. It really takes so much for them to get ready for these events, and it is all worthwhile when I see them relating to professionals in the field, and holding their own in the midst of many other students and teachers.”

The spaghetti dinner fundraiser will run from 6-9 p.m. at Hella Good Tacos, located at 500 Washington Avenue, suite 3, in Portland. The suggested donation is $10 but any donation gets you fed.
