Grades 1-12 Enrollment
Enrollment in the Portland Public Schools is now open for the 2022-2023 school year. Students in grades 1 through 12 can now enroll online using the new Online Enrollment Application process. Parents/guardians can provide their child's information electronically, and save time and paperwork.
How to Register Online:
To enroll your grade 1-12 student, register through our Online Registration Portal:
If your student is currently enrolled in the Portland Public Schools, it is not necessary for you to re-enroll for the next school year. Your student's enrollment will automatically "roll up" to their next grade and school according to your primary home address.
Documents Needed for Enrollment:
After completing the initial online application, you will need to bring to the school the following documents to complete the enrollment process. (For students whose families speak a language other than or in addition to English, please bring the documents to the Multilingual Family Welcome Center at Central Office.)
- Original Proof of birth document (This document will be reviewed but not kept)
- Immunization records
- Proof of residency in Portland (This can be a utility bill such as an electricity bill, or a cable or internet bill or lease agreement/title of primary residence)
Locate your neighborhood school:
Enrollment in grades 9-12 (high school) is not by neighborhood; it is by choice. We have three high schools to choose from: Casco Bay High School, Deering High School, and Portland High School. You can contact the school of your choice directly to register. Casco Bay High School has a lottery for enrollment, so please contact the school directly prior to enrolling online.
To request enrollment in an elementary or middle school that is not in your neighborhood:
If you wish to request an "out of neighborhood" placement or a Superintendents' Waiver:
