Kindergarten Registration
The Portland Public Schools kindergarten enrollment application can now be completed online. Through the Online Registration, parents and guardians can submit their child’s information electronically, saving time and reducing paperwork.
If your child attended one of Portland Public Schools’ Pre‑K programs during 2025-26, you do not need to re‑enroll them for kindergarten in 2026-27. Your child’s enrollment will automatically be carried forward to their assigned neighborhood elementary school based on your primary home address.
Kindergarten registration for the 2026-2027 school year is now open.
Once your online registration form is complete, your child’s school will contact you and request that you bring the required supporting documents for verification.

The Online Registration takes about 30 minutes to complete. Before you begin, please review our neighborhood schools list and required documents so you have everything you need.

Documents Needed for Enrollment:
After completing the initial online application, you will be asked to bring the following documents to your neighborhood school to complete the enrollment process. Families who need English language assistance should bring these documents to the Multilingual Family Welcome Center at Central Office instead.
- Original proof of birth document (reviewed but not kept)
- Immunization records
- Proof of residency in Portland (such as a utility bill—electricity, cable, or internet—or a lease agreement/title of primary residence)
