Much like a large-scale catering company, we serve all elementary schools through meals prepared at our Central Kitchen facility. We also supplement middle school kitchens with scratch-made meals that include our homemade sauce, taco meat filling, hummus and vegan chili. With supportive oversight, PPS high school kitchens operate with more independence over purchasing and preparation to provide students with customized options.

This year school meals are free for all students and offer many benefits:

  • It extends your food budget and saves you time on meal prepping

  • It's comforting and familiar to your kids to have meals at school 

  • It's confidential and not just for low income families

  • You're helping the local food service program stay financially afloat - we get reimbursed by the USDA for each meal chosen by a student.

  • You are not taking the meals away from someone who needs it. They are for all students.

*All meals are free for all students. Milk is $0.50 each

*All meals served with a choice of Skim or 1% Maine Milk

*Alternate Sunbutter and Jelly Bundle is available daily at all schools

Harvest of the Month

All schools in our district participate in the Maine Harvest of the Month program. Organized by the Maine Department of Education, this program promotes the use of local, seasonal products by highlighting a different Maine grown or caught product each month. We participate during the school year by locally purchasing a different Maine product to feature in school meals.
