School Registration 

Welcome to the Portland Public Schools! 

Portland Public Schools enrollment is open for the 2019-20 school year. You can enroll online using our new Online Enrollment Application process. Parents/guardians can provide their child's information electronically, and save time and paperwork. 

Click on the registration page links below to enter our Online Registration Portal to enroll your student.  You may also choose to go to your neighborhood school, or to any of Portland’s public schools, to use a kiosk to enter your online registration.

Once your registration is complete, you will need to go to your neighborhood school and present supporting documents to have your online registration completed and verified.

If you need help determining what your neighborhood school is, please click here or send an email to inquiry@portlandschools.org with your home address and the grade(s) of your child/children and we will get back to you with your neighborhood schools.

For Grades 9-12, we have three high schools for you to choose from: Casco Bay High School, Deering High School, and Portland High School. You can contact the school of your choice directly to register.

Families who need translation/interpretation services should contact the Portland Public Schools' Multilingual & Multicultural Center at (207) 874-8135.

Grades 1 - 12 Registration 

To request a school that is not in your neighborhood

If you wish to request an "out of neighborhood" placement or a Superintendents' Waiver, please click here, or send your email request to inquiry@portlandschools.org.

Portland Public Schools now requires that incoming middle school requests (parents of students entering grades 6-8) visit your neighborhood school prior to completing the "out of neighborhood" placement request. You will need to meet with one of the administrators or the guidance counselor at the school. The application will request the date you visited your neighborhood school and the name of the person you met with at the school.

To submit a request for the next school year

We will begin receiving requests for next school year after January 1st. There is no need to get your application in on "day one" - all requests will be considered at the same time.

All new requests for elementary and middle school are now required to visit your neighborhood school prior to requesting an "out of neighborhood" placement. You will need the name of the person you met with and the date you visited the school to complete the below request.

Middle schools do not begin reviewing requests until the first couple weeks in May. If you are requesting to attend a middle school outside of your district or neighborhood, please be sure to make your request prior to May 1st.

Elementary school requests are reviewed shortly after the end of the school year (usually at the end of June).  Incoming Kindergarten requests will not be considered until August. Please be sure to submit your elementary request before June 1st.
