Due to the pandemic, the Annual Portland Public Schools Student Art Show at City Hall was not held this spring, so the show has gone virtual in 2021. A slideshow of student work showcases the artwork of more than 150 talented PPS students in elementary through high school.

“This slideshow is a selection of both in-person and virtual works created by students in the classes of Portland Public Schools art teachers,” said Chad Hart, art teacher at Talbot Community School and the district’s art coordinator. “Without our usual district art celebration at City Hall, this presentation is our way to celebrate the students’ artwork virtually.”

Hart said each of the district’s art teachers was asked to choose a selection of five to 10 slides of student work representative of some of the impressive work that has been happening in art classes throughout the district this year.

“Each school's art is a representation of the beautiful work of our students, and the dedication of our teachers,” he said. “The slides show the variety and range of our students and our teachers. What is wonderful to see is the talent and creativity of our students, and the growth that they show from their early years through their middle and high school years.  The district art show is a celebration of our amazing students and a recognition of the importance of the arts.”
