Casco Bay High School students are using music to help celebrate EL Education’s third annual Better World Day, on Friday, May 1 – a day to recognize all the student contributions that are helping to make the world a better place.
To help observe #BetterWorldDay, students at Casco Bay High School, which is part of the EL Education network, wrote and performed a “Make the World Better” song with support from students EL Education schools around the country and have coalesced their physically isolated performances into a compelling video.
Many of the CBHS students are also music students at the Portland Arts & Technology High School or PATHS. “Vicky Stubbs, PATHS music teacher, was integral in pulling this off,” said CBHS Principal Derek Pierce. “Thanks to Ms. Stubbs and EL Education for helping to orchestrate it all!”
The video features 34 student musicians from 11 EL Education schools in 7 states. Pierce congratulated the following CBHS students for their participation:
Charlotte Bowder - Songwriter, Keys, Vocals
Luthando Mngqibisa - Vocals
Eliza MacLeod - Flute
Holden Van Etten - Electric Guitar
Halim Moldaver - Cello
Simon Hale - Alto Sax
Uther Dadaleares - Drums
Ella Ferguson – Violin
EL Education plans to make Better World Day an annual event.
Casco Bay High School is a Mentor school within the EL network and is recognized as a national leader in project-based and “deeper” learning.
