As part of the “Read Across America Day” celebration at Rowe Elementary School, on March 2, physical education teacher Rene Custeau created reading and activity stations for students.

He utilized several Dr. Seuss stories and highlighted physical activities such as ribbon dancing, hippity-hop dancing, and small and large hula-hoops and scooters.

This was a wonderful opportunity to combine brainpower and physical activities and Rowe students loved it!

National Read Across America Day, also known as Dr. Seuss Day, is a day to celebrate the joys of reading. It also brings awareness to the importance of reading in education and helps to motivate kids to read more.

Read Across America Day was inaugurated by the NEA (National Education Association). It is held on the school day that is nearest to Dr. Seuss’ birthday on March 2. Theodor Seuss Geisel, Dr. Seuss, was an American artist, book publisher, animator, poet, a political cartoonist as well as an author. He is best known for authoring more than 60 children’s books.
