It’s baaack! The traditional Turkey Day football game between Portland and Deering high schools is being renewed this year after a COVID hiatus last year.

This will be the 109th edition of the game and it is scheduled for Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 25, at Fitzpatrick Stadium. Kickoff will be at 10:30 a.m.

Tickets are $5 for general admission, $3 for seniors and veterans and free for students with an ID/Metro Pass. Tickets can be obtained on Ticket Spicket or at the stadium on game day.

The Portland Public Schools looks forward to seeing the Portland community come out to celebrate this tradition and cheer on our students while enjoying the game. It’s also an opportunity to reconnect with former classmates and friends, while working up an appetite for the Thanksgiving meal.

The Portland Public Schools is Maine’s largest school district, with approximately 6,500 students, and is also the most diverse. About one-third of the district’s students come from homes where languages other than English are spoken—a total of more than 60 languages. 52 percent of the district’s students are white and 48 percent are students of color. Approximately half of PPS students qualify for free or reduced-price school meals.
