The Portland Board of Public Education has two new members after
Tuesday’s Nov. 4 election: Stephanie S. Hatzenbuehler and John M. Eder.
Also, Marnie S. Morrione was re-elected to the District 5 school board
seat.
Hatzenbuehler is the new District 4 representative to the
board. Hatzenbuehler was vying with Rebecca Wartell for the seat.
Official tallies showed Hatzenbuehler won 3,300 votes, or 69 percent,
and Wartell garnered 1,487 votes or 31 percent, according to the
Portland City Clerk’s office.
Eder is the new at-large member of
the board, winning with 11,783 votes or 51.5 percent. His opponent, Gene
D. Landry, received 11,107 votes or 48.5 percent, according to the City
Clerk’s office.
Morrione was unopposed for her seat. She garnered 4,645 votes.
The school board inauguration is set for Dec. 1.
