Superintendent’s Book Club to Discuss 21st Century Trends
Posted on 11/25/2014

Portland Public Schools Superintendent Emmanuel Caulk will host the winter meeting of the Superintendent’s Book Club on Wednesday, Jan. 28 at 7 p.m. at Longfellow Books in Monument Square in Portland. Caulk will lead the discussion of 21 Trends for the 21st Century: Out of the Trenches and Into the Future” by Gary Marx.

The public is invited to attend the event free of charge and no sign-up is required.

The book focuses on the most important trends impacting education and the whole of society today and how tomorrow’s leaders can prepare for them. It is a “must read,” according to the National School Public Relations Association, because “whether we look at rapidly shifting demographics, constantly emerging technologies, environmental challenges, the way we learn or the way we lead, the world is changing faster and more dramatically now than at any time in human history.”

Copies of “21 Trends” are available at Longfellow Books for a 20 percent discount, which brings the price to $26 plus tax. Be sure to mention that you are with the Superintendent’s Book Club. The Portland Public Library also has put the book on order, and it can be purchased online.
