Spring Edition of Community e-Newsletter Now Available
Posted on 04/27/2015

The Portland Public Schools has released the spring issue of its new Community e-Newsletter. The e-Newsletter was launched last fall and is designed to better inform parents and other community members about successes and initiatives in the public schools and spur more engagement in education.

“The Community e-Newsletter is designed to help empower our community. It is one of my core beliefs that it takes an entire community to ensure the success of our public schools. The more community members are informed about our schools, the better they can engage with them,” said Portland Schools Superintendent Emmanuel Caulk. “The e-Newsletter helps to foster community participation in our schools and moves us closer toward our goal of becoming the best small urban school district in the country by 2017.”

The spring issue of the e-Newsletter includes news about the proposed school budget, school district leaders holding a roundtable on education with Senator Angus King and about business partners, such as the Portland Sea Dogs, helping Portland Public Schools’ students. This issue also highlights awards and recognitions earned by students and staff, and features news from each school and about upcoming events.

The Community e-Newsletter comes out twice a year, in the fall and the spring. School families and their friends and neighbors, as well as other community members, are encouraged to subscribe to the free Community e-Newsletter by sending an email to [email protected] with “Subscribe to e-Newsletter” in the message or subject line.
