Casco Bay High School, a small and rigorous public high school within the Expeditionary Learning network, will present its Expeditionary Learning (EL) Credentialing portfolio on Wednesday, August 26. Expeditionary Learning is newly credentialing schools who can demonstrate meeting EL’s criteria in three core standards: mastery of skills and knowledge, character and high quality student work.
The presentation will begin at 3 p.m. in room 250 of the school, located at 196 Allen Avenue. Several students and staff will be presenting selections from a digital portfolio the school has been compiling over the last year that demonstrate the school's compelling evidence in meeting the standards of a Credentialed EL school. The evidence highlighted will be a mix of data, stories, videos and other teacher and student artifacts. The presentation also will include the premiere of a short movie that students made over the summer at the school’s10th anniversary celebration this past June.
CBHS, founded in 2005, is a Mentor School within the Expeditionary Learning network and is recognized as a national leader in project-based and “deeper” learning. An official decision on CBHS’ Credentialing status will take place in late September.
