More than 40 Casco Bay High School juniors presented to panels of experts at the University of Southern Maine on Thursday, Feb. 5 about how to transition away from fossil fuels and mitigate the impacts of climate change.

Another 45 students were slated to make similar presentations on Friday, Feb. 6, starting at 8 a.m. in Luther Bonney Hall’s Talbot Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

Students presented to and fielded questions from experts including university professors, environmental professionals, and sustainability entrepreneurs.

The list of experts who listened to presentations, asked questions and gave feedback included Tim Balunis, U.S. Coast Guard; Hugh Bealka, land use consultant; Jason Dionne, educator; Jeff Edelstein, Greater Portland Sustainability Council; Jennifer Hatch, Revision Energy;
