Lincoln Middle School to Hold ‘School's Out 5K’ on June 13
Posted on 06/09/2015

The Lincoln Middle School “School’s Out 5K” is a high-energy, all-ages, 5-kilometer run through the Deering neighborhood of Portland to support experiential learning at the school.

In honor of the school’s namesake, participants should feel free to come dressed as Honest Abe with a top hat and/or beard.

The run starts at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at Lincoln Middle School (LMS). The loop course winds through the scenic quiet streets to the west of the school before entering the Portland Trails system behind Evergreen Cemetery, and finishes along Stevens Avenue to the front of the school.

Two water (and music!) stops will be provided, and medical personnel will be stationed along the course.

Every runner will receive a fun race souvenir upon crossing the finish line, and official finish times will be posted promptly. Non-monetary prizes will be awarded to the top female and male adult finishers; the top female and male LMS student finishers; and the top female and male LMS teacher/staff finishers. Other prize categories will be by age.  Additional special prizes may be awarded for certain “secret” runner categories. Music, refreshments, and a post-race party at LMS await all runners at the finish line.
