Breccia, Deering High School's award-winning literary magazine, will be holding an open mic fundraiser in the school cafeteria on Friday, March 13, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Local singer/songwriter Emilia Dahlin will be the special guest for the evening.
Dahlin won the Boston Music Conference Songwriting Competition in 2010 and has played more than 500 shows nationally.
Portland Public School students and staff are invited to perform anything from music to poetry to dance! Admission is a $5 suggested donation for adults; a $2 suggested donation for students, and is free for performers.
Proceeds from the event go to cover the cost of the publication of Breccia. The DHS literary magazine’s 2014 edition was recently ranked as "Superior – Nominated for Highest Award" by the National Council of Teachers of English. That’s the highest recognition awarded by that council.
